Travel has always been my love language. Long before I was a mother, I lived for the thrill of a new destination: the kind of trip where you get beautifully lost in a foreign city, linger over a long lunch, and fall asleep wondering how you got so lucky.
And then I had kids. Suddenly, the trips I had always dreamed of felt impossibly complicated. The spontaneity I loved was replaced by nap schedules and overstuffed bags. The word “luxury” felt like something from another life: before strollers, before tantrums at 30,000 feet, before the sheer logistics of keeping two tiny humans happy while crossing time zones. I still wanted to explore the world. I just was not sure I could do it well anymore.
Then we did something a little wild. In late 2025, my family packed up our lives and moved to Europe. Two parents, two toddlers, a dog, and an enormous amount of hope. We were not exactly sure what we were doing, but we knew we wanted more adventure, more beauty, more of that feeling that the world is bigger and richer than the routines we had built around ourselves.
What happened next genuinely surprised me. Living here, I discovered something I had not expected: traveling with children does not have to mean sacrificing the experience. The right property, one with a dedicated kids’ club, thoughtful family suites, flexible dining, and staff who actually love having little ones around, does not just make life easier. is people.
Before Atlas & Elm, I spent nearly two decades working in education, holding a Master’s degree in Social Work. For 17 years, my work was about people: understanding what they need, meeting them where they are, and helping them access something better. That foundation never left me.
If anything, it deepened my belief in something I had always felt but struggled to put into words: in a world where children have everything at their fingertips, what they are often missing most are experiences. Not more things. More moments. More wonder. More exposure to the kinds of people, places, and cultures that quietly reshape how they see themselves and the world around them.
Seeing the world as a family is not just a nice thing to do. It is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our children, and in ourselves. That conviction is at the heart of everything Atlas & Elm was built to do.
